I totally agree that learning new information becomes much more effective when we connect it with our past experiences. I liked your strategy to break the stuff or new information down into small steps to clear out all the confusion it might cause. In my experience, I usually come up with the steps and divide the information into different sections where each component is attached to a particular past experience. This strategy makes me learn complex information efficiently, and it stays in my brain for a long period of time.
